Fungi Conversations

Interactive installation

This project explores the concept of impermanence through the Ink Cap mushroom, a species that can dissolve within hours. While its visible body disappears quickly, its underground mycelium network remains and continues to connect with other mushrooms. This metaphor explores how relationships- even when they end- the conversations, memories, and connections they create persist.

The mushroom installations are crafted wholly from mulberry paper to emphasize their fragility, while projection-mapped roots render invisible connections visible. Embedded Morse code signifies conversations that exist but remain only partially intelligible, exposing the subtle traces people leave behind.
